Despite the frustrations of the physical limitations, it's hard to get in a funk when so many people are around to cheer you up! I've had numerous visitors, a freezer full of delicious meals, lots of beautiful flowers, very thoughtful gifts and some great posters!

Being helpless....but staying positive!!
Being trapped inside a body that just won't do what it's supposed to is a very humbling and frustrating experience. Those first few days post surgery I couldn't lift my arms higher than my waist...couldn't apply any pressure, or any force. Think scratching your nose,,,,pulling up your own pants..lifting a glass of water...never mind taking a shower and washing your hair! It's not going to happen. Bob was/is amazing. He took 3 weeks off of work, had great big plans for all the stuff he was going to get done in his shop, but managed to only do about 5% of what he had planned. Taking care of me took a lot more time than he had counted on. He did great with all the medical stuff and showers and getting dressed but he drew the line at the hair. That was just too much for him. Thankfully I have great daughters who are very used to dealing with obscene amounts of hair and pitched right in to try and make my feel like I looked somewhat acceptable!
